 Titulo:
EVALUATION OF CORRELATIONS FOR TWO-PHASE FLOW PRESSURE DROP PREDICTION AGAINST FIELD DATA

Resumo :
IN DRILLING OPERATIONS, THE DETERMINATION OF THE PRESSURE PROFILE ALONG THE WELL PLAYS A FUNDAMENTAL ROLE, SINCE THE PRODUCTION FLOW RATES OF A WELL ARE DEPENDENT ON THE BALANCE BETWEEN THE HYDRODYNAMIC PRESSURE DUE TO THE CIRCULATING MEDIUM AND THE RESERVOIR PORE PRESSURE. IN ADDITION, THE DEPTH OF THE CASING SHOES FOR THE VARIOUS DRILLING STAGES IS DEFINED IN FUNCTION OF BOTH THE HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE CAUSED BY THE COLUMN OF FLUID(S) AND THE FRACTURE GRADIENT OF THE EXPOSED FORMATION. IN THIS ARTICLE, 7 (SEVEN) CORRELATIONS FOR TWO-PHASE FLOW PRESSURE DROP PREDICTIONS WERE INVESTIGATED USING A DATA BASE COMPOSED OF 48 (FORTY EIGHT) PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS IN DIVERSE SCENARIOS, ACQUIRED IN REAL TIME DURING DRILLING OPERATIONS WITH COMPRESSIBLE FLUIDS. THE COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE RESULTS PERMITTED TO IDENTIFY THE MATHEMATICAL MODEL THAT MOST CLOSELY APPROXIMATED THE ACTUAL CONDITIONS. FURTHERMORE, THE GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF THE INTEGRATED DRILLING HYDRAULICS ANALYSIS WERE BRIEFLY STATED: 1) DEFINITION OF THE PRESSURE PROFILE WITHIN THE WELL; 2) INJECTION FLOW RATES DURING OPERATIONAL MANEUVERS; 3) PROCEDURES FOR CONTROLLING THE PRODUCTION FLOW RATES; 4) REQUIREMENTS FOR CUTTINGS REMOVAL (HOLE CLEANING); 5) DOWN-HOLE MOTOR OPERATIONAL LIMITS; 6) CAPACITY OF THE SURFACE EQUIPMENT. KEY-WORDS: DRILLING HYDRAULICS, TWO-PHASE FLOW, CORRELATIONS, COMPRESSIBLE FLUIDS, UNDER-BALANCED DRILLING.
