 Titulo:
COMPUTATIONAL ANALYSIS OF AXISYMMETRICAL SHELLS FILLED WITH INCOMPRESSIBLE AND VISCOUS FLUID IN TRANSIENT FLOW

Resumo :
A FLUID-STRUCTURE COUPLING ANALYSIS OF AN AXISYMMETRIC VESSEL IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH A NUMERICAL SIMULATION. THE FLUID IS INCOMPRESSIBLE AND VISCOUS AND THE STRUCTURE IS A CYLINDRICAL SHELL. THE VIBRATIONAL RESPONSE OF THE SYSTEM IS OBTAINED IN THE TIME DOMAIN. AN INITIAL EXCITATION IS APPLIED TO THE SHELL WALL AND A TRANSIENT DAMPED VIBRATION IS OBSERVED FOR THE CYLINDER PARTIALLY OR FULLY FILLED WITH LIQUID. THE RESPONSE IS OBTAINED EMPLOYING THE FINITE ELEMENT METHOD FOR THE SHELL AND FLUID GOVERNING DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS. RESULTS ARE CONSIDERABLY IMPROVED WHEN A FINITE ELEMENT MESH REFINEMENT IS CARRIED OUT. THE FLUID PRESSURE WAS CONSIDERED NULL AT THE FREE UPPER SURFACE AND AT THE LOWER INTERFACE OF THE LIQUID. IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY THE NUMERICAL ANALYSIS THAT ALONG THE SYMMETRY AXIS OF THE FLUID ALL VELOCITY COMPONENTS AND PRESSURE ARE ZERO, MOST PARTICULARLY NOTED FOR THE REFINED MESHES.
