APLICAÇÃO DA TÉCNICA DE ELEMENTOS FINITOS PARA A SOLUÇÃO DE UM PROBLEMA DE ABLAÇÃO UTILIZANDO UMA ABORDAGEM ENTÁLPICA
 
Resumo :
ABSTRACT. IN THIS WORK AN ENTHALPY-BASED FORMULATION IS ADOPTED TO THE ONE-DIMENSIONAL ABLATION CALCULATION. THE THERMAL PROTECTION MATERIAL AFTER THE ABLATION BECOMES A FICTITIOUS PHASE, ABSORBING THE "ABLATION LATENT HEAT" IN THIS TRANSITION, AND WITH AN VALUE OF THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY IN SUCH WAY THIS PHASE KEEPS A CONSTANT TEMPERATURE EQUAL TO THE SUBLIMATION TEMPERATURE. THUS, THIS PHASE DOES NOT ABSORB ENERGY AND ALLOWS THAT THE HEAT FLUX COMING FROM THE AERODYNAMIC HEATING REACHES THE SURFACE OF THE THERMAL PROTECTION. THE NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF THIS PROBLEM WAS OBTAINED BY THE FINITE ELEMENT METHOD. IT WAS CONSIDERED A VARIATION OF THE THERMAL PROPERTIES IN THE EVALUATION OF THE MATRIX TERMS OF THE ELEMENTS AND THE RESULTS OBTAINED PRESENTED A GOOD COHERENCY WITH THE PHYSICAL PHENOMENON OF THE SURFACE WEARING RESULTANT FROM AERODYNAMIC HEATING DURING THE REENTRY OF A SATELLITE IN THE EARTH ATMOSPHERE.
