EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF HEAT TRANSFER AUGMENTATION IN PIPES WITH HELICAL TURBULENCE PROMOTERS USING THE NAPHTHALENE SUBLIMATION TECHNIQUE
 
Resumo :
ABSTRACT. THIS WORK PRESENTS AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE INFLUENCE OF INTERNAL HELICAL TURBULENCE PROMOTERS ON THE HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT IN A CIRCULAR PIPE SUBMITTED TO A FORCED CONVECTION TURBULENT FLOW OF AIR. THE NAPHTHALENE SUBLIMATION TECHNIQUE WAS USED TO DETERMINE THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT BASED ON THE HEAT-MASS TRANSFER ANALOGY. THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TURBULENCE PROMOTERS WAS INVESTIGATED FOR TWO DIFFERENT ASPECT RATIOS AND THE REYNOLDS NUMBER WAS VARIED BETWEEN 10000 AND 60000. IN ADDITION, PRESSURE DROP MEASUREMENTS WERE MADE FOR EACH RUN. KEYWORDS: TURBULENCE PROMOTERS, NAPHTHALENE SUBLIMATION TECHNIQUE, HEAT-MASS TRANSFER ANALOGY
