 Titulo:
MINIMIZATION OF DISTORTION AND THERMAL AND RESIDUAL STRESSES IN WELD BEAD THROUGH A SIMULATOR OF SELF-LOADING

Resumo :
ABSTRACT. THIS PAPER DESCRIBES A DEVICE CAPABLE TO MONITOR DISTORTIONS AND THERMAL STRESSES DURING WELDING. THE DEVICE WAS DESIGNED WITH ACTUATORS AND LOAD AND DISPLACEMENT SENSORS CAPABLE TO MONITOR MICROSCOPIC DEFORMATION EVOLUTION AND LOADS PRODUCED BY THE WELD ON DIFFERENT POINTS OF A SPECIMEN. THE DEVICE IS ALSO CAPABLE TO SIMULATE EXTERNAL LOADS UNDER CONTROLLED WAY. TO ASSURE THAT THE ACTUATORS AND SENSORS ARE CAPABLE TO DESCRIBE THE DISTORTION EVOLUTION IN REAL TIME, SEVERAL BEAD ON PLATE WELDS WERE DEPOSITED. THE PLATE WAS FIXED ON ONE SIDE AND FREE ON THE OTHER AND THE DISTORTION WAS MONITORED USING LASERS PENS FIXED ON THE FREE SIDE OF THE PLATE. THE DISTORTIONS WERE REGISTERED ALONG TIME THROUGH A GRAPH PAPER POSITIONED AWAY FROM THE PLATE AND FOLLOWING THE LASER SPOT EVOLUTIONS. KEY WORDS: DISTORTION, THERMAL STRESSES, RESIDUAL STRESSES.
