DETERMINATION OF THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY BY USING LINEAR PROBE METHOD
 
Resumo :
SUMMARY: THIS WORK HAS AS MAIN OBJECTIVE TO STUDY THE USE OF THE LINEAR PROBE METHOD TO THE EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF FLUIDS AND POROUS MATERIALS. THE LINEAR PROBE WAS DEVELOPED FOLLOWING AS FUNDAMENTAL REFERENCE TO THE PROJECT THE PROPOSAL PRESENT BY BLAWELL, WHERE THE SPECIAL ANALYSIS WAS GIVEN TO GEOMETRIC ASPECT OF THE LINEAR PROBE. A POWERFUL SYSTEM, DEVELOPED AT LABORATORY OF TRANSMISSION AND TECHNOLOGY OF HEAT (LTTC/EE/COPPE), WAS UTILIZED AS DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM, WHAT ALLOWED TO WORK IN AN ACQUISITION FREQUENCY AROUND 100 HZ, IN ORDER TO MAKE FEASIBLE RESULTS MORE REALIST. THIS SYSTEM ALLOWS VISUALIZE IN THE MONITOR OF COMPUTER THE TEMPERATURE EVOLUTION. THE EXPERIMENTAL SET UP DEVELOPED ALLOWED RESULTS WITH EXCELLENT REPRODUCIBILITY AND PRECISION. VARIOUS TESTS WERE REALIZED WITH POROUS MATERIALS, SUCH AS, ALUMNA, SAND GRAIN, GLASS, BALLOTINE AND FLUIDS LIKE LIQUID VASELINE, CASTOR OIL, ETC. THIS RESULTS ARE THE FOCUS OF THE OUR DISCUSSION, IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE ADEQUATE FORM OF THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY MEASUREMENTS WITH LINEAR PROBE METHOD.
