 Titulo:
FINITE ELEMENT MODEL UPDATING USING SENSITIVITY BASED ITERATIVE TECHENIQUES

Resumo :
IN ORDER TO PREDICT PRECISELY THE DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE OF STRUCTURES, IT IS NECESSARY TO OBTAIN ANALYTICAL MODELS WITH A VERY HIGH ACCURACY. GENERALLY COMPLEX STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS ARE MODELED USING FINITE ELEMENT METHODS. HOWEVER, THE ACTUAL DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE OF STRUCTURES RARELY MATCH WITH THAT OF NUMERICAL MODELS. THE SOLUTION OF THIS PROBLEM RESIDES INTO THE DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF STRUCTURAL MODEL UPDATE OR REFINEMENT METHODS. CURRENTLY, THIS METHODS CAN BE CLASSIFIED IN TWO MAJOR GROUPS - DIRECT MATRIX UPDATING AND ITERATIVE PARAMETER ESTIMATION TECHNIQUES. ITERATIVE METHODS IMPROVE THE CORRELATION MEASUREMENT/MODEL THROUGHOUT A PENALTY FUNCTION INVOLVING THE SUM OF SQUARES OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MEASURED AND ESTIMATED MODAL DATA. IN THIS PAPER SOME VARIATIONS OF THIS TECHNIQUE ARE EVALUATED AND APPLIED TO THE FINITE ELEMENT MODEL UPDATE IN BEAM LIKE STRUCTURES.
