 Titulo:
SOME ASPECTS OF MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF CYCLICALLY-LOADED GRADE II TITANIUM

Resumo :
CYCLIC LOADING LEADS TO CHANGES IN METALS STRUCTURE, WHICH REFLECT IN THEIR MECHANICAL PROPERTIES. THE LIFETIME PREDICTION OF MECHANICAL COMPONENTS CAN BE IMPROVED BY THE CORRELATION OF THE MATERIAL PROPERTIES, EVALUATED BY MEANS OF NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING, TO A DAMAGE PARAMETER RELATED TO THE OCCURRED DEGRADATION. THE AIM OF THIS WORK IS TO EVALUATE THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF GRADE II TITANIUM SHEET SAMPLES CYCLICALLY LOADED TO SOME PORTIONS OF TOTAL FATIGUE LIFETIME. MOREOVER, SOME ELASTIC MODULUS MEASUREMENTS ARE MADE BY MEANS OF ULTRASONICS TECHNIQUE. THE RESULTS ARE DISCUSSED IN TERMS OF THE POSSIBILITY OF MODELLING THE CHANGES IN MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AS FUNCTION OF THE APPLIED LOADING, AS WELL AS THE USE OF NON DESTRUCTIVE TECHNIQUES IN ESTIMATION OF RESIDUAL LIFE. KEYWORDS: MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR, FATIGUE, TITANIUM, DAMAGE ACCUMULATION
