MODIFIED LOCAL GREEN´S FUNCTION METHOD (MLGFM) FOR DIFFUSION-CONVECTION ANALYSIS
 
Resumo :
ABSTRACT. THE MODIFIED LOCAL GREEN S FUNCTION METHOD (MLGFM) IS AN INTEGRAL NUMERICAL TECHNIQUE THAT HAS BEEN USED TO SOLVE SEVERAL PROBLEMS OF CONTINUUM MECHANICS IN THE LAST DECADE (POTENTIALS, BIDIMENSIONAL AND TRIDIMENSIONAL ELASTICITY, MINDLIN S PLATE BENDING, THICK SHELLS ANALYSIS, SINGULAR PROBLEMS AND OTHERS). THIS METHOD MAY BE UNDERSTOOD AS AN EXTENSION OF THE GALERKIN BOUNDARY ELEMENT METHOD, AND ITS MAIN FEATURE IS TO MAKE USE OF THE PROPERTIES OF A GREEN S FUNCTION PROJECTION ASSOCIATED TO THE PROBLEM, WITHOUT ITS EXPLICIT KNOWLEDGE. IN THIS WORK, THE MLGFM IS APPLIED FOR THE FIRST TIME TO SOLVE CONDUTIVE-CONVECTIVE PROBLEMS. NUMERICAL EXAMPLES EXPLAIN THE GOOD FLUX CONVERGENCE ON BOUNDARY.
