 Title:
MACROSCOPIC TURBULENCE MODELING FOR FLOW THROUGH SATURATED UNDEFORMABLE POROUS MEDIA

Summary :
ABSTRACT: THERE ARE, IN THE LITERATURE, TWO DISTINCT APPROACHES FOR DEVELOPING TURBULENT MODELS FOR FLOW IN A POROUS MEDIUM. THE FIRST ONE STARTS WITH THE MACROSCOPIC EQUATIONS USING THE EXTENDED DARCY-FORCHHEIMER MODEL. THE SECOND METHOD MAKES USE, FIRST, OF THE MICROSCOPIC BALANCE EQUATIONS. THESE TWO METHODOLOGIES LEAD TO DISTINCT SET OF EQUATIONS FOR THE K-EPSILON MODEL. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THESE TWO APPROACHES ARE HERE DISCUSSED UPON. KEY WORDS: POROUS MEDIA, TURBULENCE MODELING, VOLUME-AVERAGE, TIME-AVERAGE, REYNOLDS STRESS
